Veteran Lakes Director Makes Move to Concord

During Jim Holmes’ six years at the Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region, attendance more than doubled – close to 100 members each day. A free evening meal program was introduced. Jim partnered with agencies like the NH Cooperative Extension to bring additional services to families and children. Most important, he created a place where kids feel safe and loved. “Walk into that clubhouse and there is an instant sense of community,” said CEO Christopher Emond. “Ask kids and staff and they will talk about Jim as a leader and a mentor.”

Fortunately, Jim also built a great team. Now one of those team members, Michael Garrity, has taken over the Lakes Club as Jim moves to the Bradley Street Clubhouse in Concord. Since 2019, Michael has overseen programming for elementary school members. He says he most enjoyed building relationships with Club members who “needed that extra time”. In his new role, Michael looks forward to more direct interaction with families and developing his own connections in the community.
